Vincent Cassel should just sign a contract that enables him to play every French gangster from now until he dies. The dude is legit. I don’t think he’s ever played a straight character in his whole career. He just has that face that screams “I’m about to do something shitty to somebody”. Cassel has that face on a lot in this first installment of a two part biography on gangster Jacques Mesrine. Cassel plays Mesrine who develops a case of badass while in the army interrogating, wait no, torturing people. He starts out doing small burglaries but eventually starts to scale up until it reaches complete French badass levels. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I was going too and I’ll be watching Part II soon.
